This comes down to a vast amount of valuable websites that have huge potential but very little optimisation done to make their sites a success. Some potential sites do not give the importance of having a constant fresh, new content on their sites. Others just don’t post at all or don’t have any feeds, links and advertisements. In other words, their sites are not functional at all. To know about the 10 wasted domain names on the Net, here is the list:

1. Cool-dot-com

This site has lots of clickable areas or links but when you try to click one of them, it wouldn’t lead you to the right page, a page that you would have wanted and have expected. This site doesn’t even have an overview what the site is all about. No information or content where it can give information on what you are navigating about. This could have been a great site simply because of the name, cool. But the creator didn’t pursue to make this site useful and enticing to users.

2. Hot-dot-com

This domain name is simply abandoned. It has only the coloured logo of Barack Obama. When you click it, you’re taken to President Obama’s site. There is no information whatsoever as to what advocacy or reason the site is promoting.

3. Porn-dot-com

This one has a cool design but unranked. This site can only make money to sites that are attached to it. Due to a poor business model and lack lustre design it failed to make any impact in its niche market.

4. Sexy-dot-com

This is the number four on the 10 wasted domain names. What you see on this site is the enter-and-exit warning page wherein 18 years-old and above are only allowed to enter. But when you are certainly an adult and click it, you will be prompted to an abandoned or parked page. This site also has no functional content of its own.

5. Alien-dot-com

With all the discussions about aliens and UFO’s, this domain name could have been a success. With growth of social media this site would draw lots of user engagement. However with so little information on the site it’s unlikely to generate mass user’s interest.

6. Toy-dot-com

The same also goes here. This site is parked. No interesting content and photos to view at. The name itself is an excellent name or keyword for users who would want to purchase toys. The site was left deserted but now bought by Toys ‘R’ Us.

7. Pal-dot-com

This site was abandoned. This could have been a great search engine for users if the creator had further developed the site. The domain “Pal” is a great name and could have been perfect as an Internet Pal. The site would link you to cheap flights to Philippines like Philippine Airlines. A user would wonder if “Pal” stands for Philippine Airlines; another excellent three-letter domain that is put to waste.

9. Queen-dot-com

The 9th among the 10 wasted domain names is Queen-dot-com. Another site that was put to waste which also depends on your moral values.

10. Oral-dot-com

Finally the last of the 10 wasted domain names is Oral-dot-com was left in limbo. This on-line dating site could have been a success if the creator had continued with the development of the site.

These are the 10 most wasted domain names. This list could be a lesson to creators and a precedent to new web designers. The main gist here is: do not start what you cannot continue.
